THE MOST VISITED PROMOTIONAL EVENING AT THE 33rd TOURISM FAIR IN BELGRADE
Serbian Cuisine

On the occasion of its traditional theme issue dedicated to tourism (”Tourism 2011”), ”SERBIA. National Review”, in cooperation with the College of Tourism, organized the most visited promotional evening at the recently finished 33rd International Tourism Fair in Belgrade – presentation of traditional dishes ”SERBIAN CUISINE”.
Seniors from the College of Tourism, from departments of Gastronomy, Restaurant and Hotel Management – crowned with numerous awards at competitions across Europe – prepared for the friends of ”National Review” a nice an unusual treat. They took them to a nostalgic journey through the authentic roads of old Serbian cuisine. Foreign visitors were especially thrilled with various delicatessens, worthy of culinary mastership of our grandmothers. Čvarci (fried pork fat), pihtije (aspic), sarmice (stuffed cabbage leaves), bell peppers stuffed with corn, cheese, sour cream, rolled cheese or nettle pie, spinach pie, pumpkin pie, stuffed cabbage with smoked meat, sauerkraut with turkey, meat roasted ”under the bell”, mixed meat, tripe, corn bread, Saint Day treats, Serbian cocktail party, strudels, dumplings, donuts, salčići (pork fat puff pastry)...
So beautiful and rich, so authentic and unforgettable.
