Prologue

The same scenario was repeated for the umpteenth time. Brutally transparent, but functional. Internal forces in a country previously parallel, turned one against the other. By pressing a button. There is money (huge in the eyes of the poor and uneducated), network of activated sleepers, paramilitary groups covered with the mass of demonstrators, snipers on rooftops magically drawing blood with their hits and radicalizing the crowds. There are also foreign arsonists to help put out the fire, bad rulers and kitsch dolls that will replace them. And?

Once upon a time there was Yugoslavia, Georgia, Libya, Syria, Ukraine... And we live in the ruins of a little country crushed by that bloody soap opera. Do we live? <

”KAŠTEL” PALACE IN EČKA AND SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE ”CARSKA BARA”
New Hunt for Old Happiness
The elite of the Habsburg Monarchy gathered at the official opening of this hunters’ palace, owned by Armenian merchant Lukač Lazar, on August 30, 1820. Later, monarchs came here to hunt and enjoy parties, thus the name Carska Bara (Imperial Swamp). Prince Rudolf, Crown Prince Franz Ferdinand and Yugoslav king Aleksandar Karađorđević used to come here. This is where Franz List held his first concert, at the age of nine. Today, the palace regained its old attractiveness, while Carska Bara has never lost it

Customs
IN VRNJAČKA BANJA, MAGICAL TYING OF PADLOCKS ON THE BRIDGE OF LOVE
Forever and a Day More
There used to be a legend of great love, interrupted by World War One. A young heart was broken. The small town, like always, first grieved and then forgot. Then one day, Desanka Maksimović, touched by that story, wrote her famous poem. And everything came back, the interesting custom was restored. Now, this beautiful event takes place every year, on St. Valentine’s Day. Clusters of padlocks will be used to make a unique sculpture, a monument to undying love

Sailing
DOWN THE DANUBE THROUGH SERBIA, DOWNSTREAM AND SLOWLY, WITH STOPS
And White Boat Is Waiting for Me
There is everything there: empires of birds and deer, fortresses and islands, city-museums and holy mountains, live stream and indications of an open sea, bridges and dams, locks and hidden coves, confluences and islands, oak tree forests and fairies. For all those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. And even those who think they don’t should come more often, because here they could easily realize that they were mistaken. Oblivion is a spiritual category and it is curable

ON ST. SAVA DAY, IN HERCEG-NOVI, CONSECRATED THE MONUMENT TO A FAMOUS COUNT
Sava Vladislavić Returned Home
Many threads intertwined here happily in a way that is exciting and festive. With Sava, in Savina, on St. Sava Day. And on a little square in Topla, below the church, on that day a monument was unveiled to another great Sava – Sava Vladislavić. Made of bronze, on white granite, work of sculptor Đorđe Lazić, the same as the one already erected in Gacko, Sremski Karlovci and St. Petersburg. It was the occasion for us to come again to this beautiful and important town in Herzegovina

ARCHAEOLOGISTS FOUND NEW EVIDENCE ON RUDNIK
Prehistoric Metallurgy In the Balkans
It was believed for a long time that the most advanced part of the world, where first metal was produced, was Asia Minor. Discoveries on Rudna Glava near Majdanpek, Belovode near Petrovac and Pločnik near Prokuplje, however, finally proved that there was highly developed copper industry in the territory of modern Serbia, 5,000 BC. Discoveries on Rudnik are continuation of this thread, showing that this was not only one center, but knowledge of metallurgy of the entire community of that time

SERBIAN ARCHAEOLOGY IN 150 STORIES: COMPLEX OF TRAJAN’S BRIDGE NEAR MODERN KLADOVO
Great Architectural Achievement
It was built within the preparations for conquering Dacia, in only two years, which is amazing even from the perspective of modern technology. Built on twenty pillars, it was 1,100 meters long, and about 45 meters high. It comprised a single unit with two fortifications, Pontes on the right and Drobet on the left bank. Emperor Trajan was very proud of this building, and the image of the bridge found its way to coins and on the famous Trajan’s column in Rome. It will forever remain a mystery whether the emperor’s heir Hadrian really had to destroy this monumental and famous building

FILIP VIŠNJIĆ, GUSLE PLAYER, CHRONICLER OF HEROISM AND FREEDOM
The All-Seeing Blind Poet
He knew the origins of his gift and felt the need to multiply it, share it with others. Most of the poems he sang from the Uprising were created by him. They are a small epic, fresco and chronicle, metaphysics and myth, ethics. The book of consecration and freedom. Like Demodocus sang for Odysseus on Corfu, he sang for the heroes of his poems. Seeing their own reflection in the poems, many of them later became even greater heroes. He deeply influenced Vuk and Njegoš, actually all of us

Life, Novels
A CENTURY AND A HALF SINCE THE BIRTH AND 115 YEARS SINCE THE DEATH OF SVETOLIK RANKOVIĆ (1863-1899), WRITER OF ”MOUNTAIN EMPEROR” AND ”PICTURES FROM LIFE”
Late Offspring of Ancient Times
He stepped on the literary scene of Serbian realism in its final phase, at the very end of the XIX century. He graduated from the Spiritual Academy in Kiev. Aware of the inside of upcoming capitalism, before which old values, both personal and social, disappeared, he tried to defend himself with idyll and pessimism. He knew it was in vain. He also knew that everything he was speaking about will become clear only much, much later. He did not even sculpt with hatred the images of those who killed his parents, even them he did not leave without hope

Diary about Crnjanski
ON THE OCCASION OF RECENT 120TH ANNIVERSARY FROM THE BIRTH OF MILOŠ CRNJANSKI (1893–1977), ”THE MOST LOVED SERBIAN WRITER” (2)
With a Taste of Final Migration
Although slandered, mostly by those who stole what belonged to his greatness, Crnjanski keeps shining over all the Serbias of this and the hirer world even today. His ”Sumatraism” is not sentimental, but ecstatic and erotic. Such eroticism is not (only) physical but a mystical experience of being. It is the plane of existence accessible only to the greatest poets and, of course, gods

Deep Is the Secret of Masonry
He is 83 years old, but says it’s still early to speak about his peers from Belgrade. Masonry is based on a geometric sign, pre-literacy having the revelation of the creator within. Strong faith is necessary to see into the obvious. Mathematics prevents an edifice from collapsing. A church object is a form of prayer. A nation with a name and culture is related to heavens. Only cattle, whose circle is completed in a slaughterhouse instead of in Resurrection, can be satisfied only with being full-fed. Much work awaits us before we return to our Kosovo

75 SPRINGS OF ”POLITIKIN ZABAVNIK”
Every Friday Is an Exception, Without Exception
It is not an ordinary magazine for morals and entertainment. It used to be an important structural element of many generations and youth, embedded in their sensibility and view of the world. It taught them to be curious and smart, to rejoice and wonder, to remain generous and true to themselves. It was read, written and lived by the best. They created it and it created them. It saw the emergence of television, first computers, computer games, internet, social networks and other toys for children and adults. And it has been changing itself, while always remaining the same, from 1939 until today

GORAN RISTOVIĆ POKIMICA, MASTER OF FILIGREE
Revival of the Forgotten Art
He had a well-paid managerial position, but he left it all and responded to the call. He united the craft and sacral, practical and aesthetical, on the highest level. He elevated the world of metal, supported with the significance and symbolism of precious stone, to the level of sacramental. He purified it from transience and sin with beauty. He renewed the meaning of ornamenting under noble lace. He has never repeated himself, never made two identical objects. His works are in churches in a dozen countries, even in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem

RECORDS FROM THE YEARS THAT POISONED GRASSHOPPERS
Suicide of a Goldfish
We had our mischief, they have theirs. Ours was in our heads, theirs in our rooms and linings of our coats. They thought that we knew how to survive and that we would slip up in front of them. And we did not think anything. That was the secret if our survival. And then, when somebody turned on the light, there was a sight to see: ”Fire is crackling merrily, it is our tent on fire!”

The Winner
RASTKO JOVIĆ, EUROPEAN CHAMPION AND WORLD RECORD HOLDER IN SHOOTING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
Journal of Battle and Victory
Born without the left forearm, this handsome and talented young man had on his journey much more obstacles than the others. He had to learn the beauty and cruelty of life in a painful way. When he broke the psychological barrier in himself, he conquered the world. He won medals, love and respect. He will not forget the unknown man from public transportation from whom he has heard the most important sentence in his life. The moment when on the winner’s pedestal you are listening to your country’s anthem, he says, cannot be compared with anything and gives the highest meaning to his entire life and sacrifice

To stop Lowering the Criteria
”Lowering off criteria has begun a long time ago, as the result of general social context and undermining of authority. It is also the result of commercial conditions of conducting education activity, unfortunately at the expense of the society, which is cutting the branch on which the education is sitting. Without regulating conditions in this respect, I am afraid, it would be no use to talk about the society of quality. And consequences are far-reaching and dangerous”, says professor Đuro Đurović, PhD, director of this prestigious institute of higher education
